U.S. military contractor suspected of selling old Chinese ammo to Afghan armyPosted: 05:29 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) - A company contracted by the U.S. military is accused of supplying corroded and decades-old Chinese ammunition to the Afghan Army and police, and has now been suspended by the U.S. government for violating its contract, according to U.S. Army documents obtained by CNN. Miami, Florida-based AEY Inc. is under criminal investigation by the government for allegations that it knowingly misrepresented what the company would provide the Afghan security forces. Under the contract, AEY said it would supply ammunition manufactured in Hungary. But an investigation by the Army found most of the bullets were made in China, a violation of the contract, according to the Army documents. –From CNN Pentagon Producer Mike Mount |
