Tibetan exiles claim 100 dead in Lhasa violence, Xinhau reports 10 killedPosted: 08:38 AM ET
NEW DELHI, India (CNN) - Tibetans planned a protest Saturday at the Jama Masjid, old Delhi's principle mosque, amid of string of protests in India and Tibet - including one that turned violent and left at least 10 people dead. The protesters are gathering at the mosque because it's the only site at which police are allowing them to congregate. In Nepal, about 100 Tibetan exiles said they were starting a hunger strike in protest. Tibetan exiles in India cited unconfirmed reports that at least 100 people were killed and many more injured in violence that started when Chinese police blocked a march by monks in the Tibetan capital of Lhasa Friday. China's state-run Xinhua news agency, citing the Tibet government, said 10 were killed. |
