Some airport travelers get to choose life in the fast (or not so fast) lanePosted: 05:11 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) - A travel executive Monday praised the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for experimenting with "Diamond Lanes" at airline security checkpoints - giving travelers the choice of three lines for different traveling styles. "The idea of identifying certain travel groups and providing them with secure options to speed their way through TSA checkpoints is a good one," said Roger Dow, president and CEO of the Travel Industry Association. "We applaud TSA for thinking outside the box and providing a safe and secure solution to what can be a very cumbersome procedure." The experiment has been under way since mid-February at just two airports - Salt Lake City and Denver. The Diamond Lanes allow travelers to choose one of three lines: one for expert travelers, one for casual travelers, and one for families and people who need special assistance. |
