From CNN Producer Larry Lazo ALEXANDRIA, Va. (CNN) — Thirty-two gun control advocates gathered Wednesday to prepare for the first anniversary of a deadly shooting rampage on the Virginia Tech campus, carefully cutting ribbons from cloth in the school’s burgundy and orange colors. The 32 women — each representing a fatal victim of the April 16, 2007, massacre — eventually will create more than 2,000 ribbons for a series of 43 “Lie-Ins” to be held on the anniversary in 21 states and the District of Columbia, said Abby Spangler of ProtestEasyGuns.com. At each of these events, 32 people wearing ribbons will lie down on the ground for three minutes — the amount of time it took Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui to buy his gun, said Spangler. |
