Israeli airstrike targets Palestinian militant in Gaza

Posted: 06:47 AM ET

GAZA CITY (CNN) - Hours after a suicide bomber struck Israel, the
Israeli military Monday carried out an airstrike in Gaza targeting a member of
the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committee, the Israeli army said.

Palestinian security sources said the strike critically wounded Amr
Qarmout, also known as Abu Saad, a spokesman and leading member of the
Salahaddin Brigades - which is the armed wing of the PRC, an umbrella group of
Palestinian militants.

A number of Palestinian militant groups claimed responsibility for
Monday's suicide attack in the southern Israeli town of Dimona - including
Islamic Jihad, Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the Popular Front for the Liberation
of Palestine and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine.
The suicide bombing killed at least one person and wounded 11 others.
