Officials: U.S. diplomat dies in Islamabad in suspected suicide

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) - A U.S. diplomat was found dead in Islamabad, Pakistan, on Monday from an apparent suicide, a Pakistani police officer and a State Department official told CNN.

The death of U.S. Embassy Officer Keith Ryan is still under investigation, but Islamabad Police Assistant Superintendent Abdul Qaider said initial signs indicate he committed suicide.

That account was backed up by a State Department official, who spoke under the condition of anonymity.
