Musharraf: Pakistan succeeding against al Qaeda, Taliban

Posted: 09:20 AM ET

LONDON (CNN) - Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf said Monday that
his country has not failed in its fight against al Qaeda and the Taliban.

"I think we are succeeding against al Qaeda," Musharraf said at a news
conference with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, following their talks in
London.

Musharraf said Pakistani authorities had captured hundreds of al Qaeda
militants in recent years. He said the government was also trying to "wean away
the population" from Taliban influence.
