Interrogator says Saddam's fear of Iran kept him from coming clean on WMD

Posted: 02:02 PM ET

(CNN) - The FBI agent who interrogated Saddam Hussein after his capture
in 2003 said the Iraqi president told him he never divulged that he had no
weapons of mass destruction because he did not want the Iranians to use that
information to launch their own attack on Iraq, according to CBS News.

In addition, Hussein did not believe that the United States would invade
his country over the issue, FBI agent George Piro told the network's "60
Minutes" program, slated to be broadcast Sunday night.

During the nearly seven months Piro talked to Hussein, the agent told the
Iraqi that he answered directly to President Bush, CBS said in a posting on its
Web site.
