Sheriff: Lauterbach's ATM card found in Durham, N.C., bus stationPosted: 01:20 PM ET
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (CNN) - Investigators over the weekend found the ATM debit card of slain Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach in a Durham, N.C., bus station, and the truck of the man suspected of killing her was reportedly seen in that area, the Onslow County sheriff said Monday. Sheriff Ed Brown said investigators had received "several" tips from people in the Durham area about seeing Marine Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean's truck there. Laurean is charged with first-degree murder in Lauterbach's death, and a nationwide search is under way for the Marine, who fled the Camp Lejeune, N.C.-area Friday, after leaving a note behind saying he disposed of Lauterbach's body after she committed suicide. Lauterbach had accused Laurean, 21, of raping her and was preparing to testify at a military hearing in the case. |
