Police searching for grave of pregnant Marine

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (CNN) - The pregnant Marine missing from Camp Lejeune, N.C., is dead, and law enforcement teams are trying to locate her grave, Onslow County Sheriff Ed Brown said Friday

He stunned reporters at a midday news conference by opening with the announcement: "She is dead, and she is buried." Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who was eight months pregnant, was said to be buried in a shallow grave in a wooded residential area of Onslow County, but her body had not yet been recovered, Brown said.

Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean, whom Lauterbach had accused of rape, is the suspected killer, and is being sought, the sheriff said.
