Mayor: Family's timeline shows missed opportunities for city to intervenePosted: 03:40 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) - A review of the two and a half years leading up to the discovery of four girls' bodies in a Washington apartment Wednesday reveals a grim family history, and several missed opportunities for the city to intervene, the mayor said Friday. "In the history of this city, there have probably been not many occasions at all that have rivaled the type of tragedy and the type of grief that this incident has sparked in the hearts and minds of the people of the District of Columbia," Washington Mayor Adrian M. Fenty said at a news conference. The mayor has vowed to review city policies and procedures to ensure that the "failures of this case" do not happen again. He said personnel action, including possible terminations, could be taken against city employees who were involved in the family's case. |
